Built to the detail,
not to the average.

Heavy-duty and light-duty sections are not the same thickness, and the difference shows up two winters later. The section that gets placed is the one the detail draws, and where the plan and the geotechnical report disagree, that gets raised before the stone is ordered.

Building pads and stone base — FAQ

Is stone under asphalt parking included in the base bid?

Aggregate base is priced as identified unit work rather than buried in a lump sum, so the project team can see the quantity and the section it is based on. Stone quantities carry a standard waste allowance.

Do you place the asphalt or the concrete?

No. BD Excavation provides stone and grade only — no surface, intermediate or binder course, and no concrete flatwork, curb or gutter. Those are excluded on every proposal.

What if the geotechnical report calls for a thicker section than the plan detail?

That conflict gets raised before the bid is submitted where the documents allow, and identified as a clarification on the proposal where they do not. It is not absorbed silently.
