Water and fire main
Domestic water and fire service run from the tap to the building stub, restrained and thrust-blocked where the detail requires, then pressure tested and disinfected.

Restrained, tested,
and cleared.
Water work is not finished when the pipe is in the ground. It is finished when it holds pressure, passes a bacteriological sample and the utility signs off. That sequence is in the schedule from the start.
Questions
Water and fire main — FAQ
Do you set the PIV or the backflow assembly?
No. BD Excavation runs the fire line to the building stub. The post indicator valve, backflow preventer and everything inside the building line are the plumbing or mechanical contractor's scope, and the proposal says so.
Who coordinates the tap at the city main?
BD Excavation coordinates with the utility having jurisdiction on scheduling and inspection. Municipal tap fees and permit fees are paid by the Owner unless the bid documents assign them otherwise.
Is pressure testing and chlorination included?
Yes, pressure testing and disinfection are carried with the water scope. Laboratory analysis is a subcontracted service and is identified separately.
