It is the one line on the company's own bid that never moves. Grade is checked against the plan, not against the last pass — and anything that will not hold is reported before it gets buried under stone.

Site grading — FAQ
Do you use GPS machine control?
Yes. Grade is run under machine control and verified against the spot elevations and benchmarks on the civil set.
Can you grade a parking lot subgrade without placing the asphalt?
Yes, and that is the normal arrangement. BD Excavation carries earthwork, subgrade and stone base; the paving contractor places the asphalt.
What happens if the subgrade fails a proofroll?
Work stops on that area, the Contractor is notified, and the repair is quoted and executed as a written change order before it proceeds. Nothing soft gets covered up quietly.
